Haydn, F.J.: Jahreszeiten (Die) (The Seasons) (Legendary Singers, Vol. 6) (Fricsay) (1952)

Review by Tomasz W.★★★½Sample

Solid, but I keep skipping “Die Jahreszeiten (The Seasons), Hob.XXI:3: Der Winter (Winter): Recitative: So wie er naht (Lukas, Hanne, Simon)”. Sorry Walther Ludwig, Josef Greindl, Ferenc Fricsay, Elfriede Trötschel, RIAS Kammerchor, RIAS Symphony Orchestra & St. Hedwig's Cathedral Choir.

i was not emotionally prepared for “Die Jahreszeiten (The Seasons), Hob.XXI:3: Der Fruhling (Spring): Recitative: Der Landmann hat sein Werk vollbracht (Lukas)”. nobody warned me. consider yourself warned.

the highs are high but it sags in the middle. still coming back for “Die Jahreszeiten (The Seasons), Hob.XXI:3: Der Sommer (Summer): Recitative: Nun regt und bewegt sich alles umher (Simon)” though.
